Nursery learning at Densville

Nursery Programme

Our nursery caters to children aged 2 to 5, divided into Pre-Nursery, Nursery 1, and Nursery 2. Learning happens through play โ€” because at this age, exploration is education.

Teachers use songs, stories, hands-on activities, and gentle routines to develop early literacy, number sense, fine motor skills, and social confidence. Children learn to share, listen, express themselves, and enjoy coming to school every day.

  • Phonics & pre-reading activities
  • Early numeracy through games & objects
  • Art, music, drama & creative play
  • Bible stories & moral instruction
  • Potty training support (Pre-Nursery)

Primary pupils at Densville

Primary Programme

Primary 1 through 6 builds on the nursery foundation with a structured curriculum aligned to Nigerian educational standards and enriched with international approaches. Pupils develop strong reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, and scientific thinking.

As children progress, we introduce more independent study habits, project work, and exam preparation โ€” especially in Primary 5 and 6 โ€” to ready them for common entrance examinations and secondary school transitions.

How we teach at Densville

Great teaching is not one-size-fits-all. Our educators use a blend of methods suited to nursery and primary learners:

Play-Based Learning (Nursery)

Structured play activities that develop cognitive, motor, and social skills naturally.

Continuous Assessment (Primary)

Regular classwork, tests, and projects to track progress and identify areas for support.

Differentiated Instruction

Lessons adapted so fast learners are challenged and struggling pupils receive extra help.

Parent Partnership

Termly reports, open days, and direct teacher communication keep families involved.

Enrichment & co-curricular activities

Learning at Densville extends beyond textbooks. Pupils participate in activities that build confidence, teamwork, and well-rounded character:

  • Inter-house sports & athletics
  • Spelling bee & quiz competitions
  • Cultural day & end-of-year concerts
  • Clubs: reading, chess, drama, and more
  • Excursions and educational visits
